The
American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that a child's
first dental visit be between 12 to 18 months of age. At that time,
we can discuss proper oral care, habits and diet. Prevention and
education are key to a lifetime of smiles. We recommend dental
examinations and cleanings every 6 months for your child. As the
permanent molars erupt, we recommend and routinely place sealants to
prevent decay on the chewing surfaces. Composite (white, tooth
colored) restorations are available if cavities are detected and
require treatment. We like to use the "tell, show, do" approach in
explaining dental techniques and procedures to the child. Our
doctors and team talk to children in a way that they enjoy and
understand. For the young, anxious, or special needs child, we are
trained, equipped and able to complete dental care with sedation. If
recommended or preferred, an anesthesiologist is available to
provide general anesthesia in our offices. Both doctors have staff
privileges at various hospitals and surgicenters, and dental care
can be completed under general anesthesia at those facilities. |
